This unique project involved
site planning and landscape design for the
new Canadian Diplomatic Complex in Algiers.
Prime consultant was BLK Architects in Calgary.
The client was the Canadian government,
requiring multiple layers of review during
design and construction drawings. It required
extensive liaison with the architects and
engineers during site planning and design.
The hilly difficult site was designed to
accommodate the chancery, ambassador’s
Official Residence and garden, staff residences
and recreation facilities. Jim Patterson
was Principal in Charge and landscape architect
for this work from 1993 to 1994 at Matrix
Landscape Architecture, Ltd. in Calgary.
Matrix collaborated with LandPlan Landscape
Architecture of Calgary.
