BANFF RECREATION GROUNDS

The landscape architects were prime consultant for design development through construction administration for this $1.1 million (Canadian) park. Development included sports fields, picnic pavilions and picnic areas, trails, playgrounds, lighting, reforestation, irrigation , roads and parking and major utilities. The site is located within Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, requiring compliance with Canadian National Park regulations and liaison with local and federal authorities. Bounded by the Bow River, much of the park development is integrated into a mature spruce / poplar forest. Subconsultants included a civil engineer, architect and electrical engineer. Jim Patterson was Principal in Charge and designer for this work from 1992 to 1994, at Matrix Landscape Architecture, Ltd.
