Renovation transformed this
park into the flagship park for the small
city of West University Place. Following
the recommendations of the Open Space Master
Plan the landscape architects led an extensive
(and often spirited!) public process to
determine the appropriate program and design
for the park. The park was well loved by
diverse user groups and required creative
design to incorporate a variety of recreation
components. Today, kids love the custom
playground features combined with ‘off
the shelf’ equipment, while the picnic
shelter, walking path and open lawn are
in use year-round. Jim Patterson led the
public involvement effort and the design
for this project which was completed while
he was at Knudson & Associates. |
