Little Thicket Park is a
natural area along part of the original
meandering alignment of White Oak Bayou,
inside Loop 610 in Houston. This natural
channel, abandoned with the straightening
of the bayou in past decades runs through
a city park that is largely undeveloped.
White Oak Studio worked with the White Oak
Bayou Association on a pro bono basis to
provide preliminary design guidance for
development of a nature park with trails,
restoration of the stream bank and connection
to nearby Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.
We assisted the Association in discussions
with the hospital and its architects to
integrate the open space into the hospital
master plan and provide passive recreation
opportunities for hospital staff.
