From 1984 to 1988, Jim Patterson
was project coordinator and landscape architect
for the $3 million initial development of
this 215 acre public facility north of Houston.
It involved the entire development, from
development of the master planning process
through specific garden design and construction.
Thorough on-site inventory and analysis
preceded master planning and public presentations.
Following funding approval, Jim was responsible
for site planning, garden design, construction
document preparation, cost analysis and
construction observation on projects totaling
$650,000. He subsequently served on the
Interpretive Design Team planning the comprehensive
interpretation and wayfinding of the arboretum
and gardens.
