The Lake Jackson Downtown
Revitalization Project developed a comprehensive
plan for the phased re-creation of downtown
public infrastructure and streetscape. In
collaboration with LopezGarcia Group, the
civil engineer and prime consultant, the
landscape architects used extensive public
involvement including committee workshops,
opinion surveys and public presentations
to create a plan for revitalizing downtown.
The process helped civic leaders to understand
the importance of urban design and infrastructure
improvements to help ensure the health of
downtown commercial, business and civic
activity. Retaining a sense of small town
character and their unique Lake Jackson
heritage was of utmost importance to the
community. The landscape architects developed
design recommendations to meet the revitalization
goals, addressing:
• Entrances to downtown
• Pedestrian environment
• On-street parking
• Public art
• Street planting framework
